Make It So · 31 July 2026
Make It So has no internet permission. It cannot send anything anywhere, because Android will not let it open a network connection at all. There is no server, no account, no analytics, and no crash reporting.
Everything you write stays on your phone until you decide otherwise.
What the app stores, and where
On your device only:
- Your dreams — the sentences you write, their short names, and the focus you set for each.
- Retired focuses — each focus you have moved on from, and the date.
- Your sessions — when you logged, how many minutes if you said, and any line you wrote about it.
- A link, if you add one — one optional web address per dream, for wherever the work lives. It is stored exactly as you typed it and is never opened unless you tap it.
- Settings — your toggles and heat thresholds.
Permissions
The app asks for none. The three below are declared by Android's WorkManager, are never shown to you, and cannot be granted or refused:
- Network state, wake lock, run at startup — these come from Android's WorkManager, which the app uses to recalculate colours at midnight and after a reboot. None of them lets the app reach the internet; that needs the internet permission, which the app does not have.
Google Drive backup
If you have Android's own backup switched on, and you switch on Back up to your Google Drive in the app's settings, Android copies your dreams, their focuses, your sessions and your settings to your Google account. That is Google's backup service under Google's terms, not ours — the app never sees or handles the copy.
Export and restore
Export everything writes a JSON file and hands it to whichever app you pick from the Android share sheet. That is you moving your own data somewhere you chose. Once it leaves, wherever it lands is governed by whatever you sent it to.
Restore from a file reads one back. Android's own document picker asks you which file, and the app is given access to that one file and nothing else — it cannot see the rest of your storage, and it never asks for permission to.
Reporting a bug
Report a bug and Suggest something open your own mail app with the message half-written. Nothing is sent until you press send, and you can read and edit every word first — the app cannot send anything itself, having no way to reach the internet.
What is filled in for you is the app's version, your Android version and your device model. None of your dreams, focuses, sessions or notes go with it, and the message says so where you can see it. Delete any of it you would rather not send.
Opening a link
If you have given a dream a link and you tap Open, Android hands the address to your browser or to whatever app handles it. From that moment you are in that app, under its privacy policy, not this one — and that app can reach the internet even though Make It So cannot. Nothing about your dreams goes with it; the app passes the address and nothing else.
Deleting your data
Deleting a dream deletes its sessions and its retired focuses with it. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on the device. If you had Drive backup switched on, remove the app's backup from your Google account settings as well — we cannot reach it to delete it for you.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it.
